With the success of home store Bettencourt Manor in Toronto’s east end, designers and owners Rick and Matthew Bettencourt are bringing their unique take on vintage and contemporary furniture to cottage country. Bettencourt Lake House, a 900-square-foot shop with exposed wood beams, soft arches and creamy plaster walls, opened in Port Carling, Muskoka, this past May. “Our goal was for the space to feel like an extension of our city store, but with a focus on relaxed living,” says Matthew. The new location introduces apothecary items, skincare and an expanded range of vintage dishware. “We put a lot of heart and soul into sourcing our vintage and antique collections,” says Rick. The pair plans to host a monthly Vintage and Artisan Market on the property, bringing together the work of local artists, artisans and vintage curators.
